August 2019
Dear Parents,
I hope everyone is having a great start to the school year so far! I wanted to take a moment and reach out to you and introduce myself as the counselor here at St. Simon’s. I hope you are finding St. Simon’s to be a warm and welcoming place. We have a fabulous group of students and staff to work with here.
I will be at St. Simon’s every Thursday. I am available to you and your children this day. I also wanted to remind you of the many ways that you may access counseling services for your children, and would encourage you to take advantage of the services-one of the many opportunities at school to help your children thrive and grow to their potential. I am available to meet with students for a variety of concerns related to school adjustment, emotional and social concerns, family-related difficulties, or anything else that may prevent a student from learning or growing. I will do my best to meet with students at a time that works best for them and their teachers, and our meetings are confidential. I will ask that you sign a form so that I can obtain permission before beginning any counseling. In addition to individual counseling, I will be in many classrooms doing activities with the students or working with small groups on specific topics.
I am always happy to meet with any of you who may be interested in discussing specific concerns that you have about your child. Please feel free to call or set up a time to speak with me; I am happy to help in any way possible. I also have access to many resources to refer you to, if necessary.
You may obtain a consent form in the school office. In order for me to have ongoing meetings with your child individually these forms must be signed. Please fill it in completely and return it to school by September 6, 2019. In cases of joint legal custody, these forms must be signed by both parents. Signing this does NOT mean that your child will automatically begin meeting with me, it simply allows students to have access to services more quickly if a need arises. It is also helpful for me to have all of your contact information readily available.
If you would like to reach me, please feel free to call St. Simon and ask for Katie or email me at: [email protected].
Thank you so much and I look forward to continuing to work with you and your children this year!
