  • KINDERGARTEN - CURRICULUM 

     In Religion, students will: 

    1. Know how to make the sign of the cross
    2. Participate in Mass
    3. Know the Our Father 
    4. Know the Hail Mary
    5. Be able to tell the story of Jesus’ birth
    6. Retell in own words story of Adam and Eve
    7. Identify God as creator 
    8. Identify blessings from God
    9. Identify saints
    10. Show reverence 
     

    In Reading and Phonics, students will:

    1. Understand concepts of print
    2. Demonstrate understanding of letter-sound relationships
    3. Know and applies decoding skills
    4. Read sight words
    5. Read grade level text fluently and accurately
    6. Comprehend grade level text
    7. Identify and generate rhyming words 
    8. Use a reading strategy when confronted with an unknown word
     

    In Writing and Grammar, students will:

    1. Communicate ideas through drawing, dictating and writing
    2. Spell simple words phonetically
    3. Express ideas in writing using emergent spelling 
    4. Interpret own writing 
    5. Print legibly: Print correct letter shape, size, spacing
    6. Apply capitalization, punctuation and spacing
     

    In Math, students will:

    1. Read numbers 0-100
    2. Represent numbers 0-30
    3. Count forward to 100
    4. Count by 1’s, 5’s and 10’s
    5. Count to identify sets of numbers to 20
    6. Name numbers one more and one less than (0-20)
    7. Name numbers greater than and less than 20
    8. Compare and order whole numbers from 0-20
    9. Find sums and differences between numbers 0-10
    10. Recognize and continue patterns

    11. Recognize two and three dimensional shapes
      1. circle, square, triangle, rectangle, oval, diamond,

    15. Identify positions and directions

    In Social Studies, students will:

    1. Name and understand school rules 
    2. Identify various community helpers
    3. Distinguish between needs and wants, goods and services 
    4. Recognize a map and a globe and identify basic landforms 
    5. Compare and contrast the past and the present 
     

    In Science, students will:

    1. Identify various life cycles
    2. Describe changes in seasons and weather
    3. Identify the five senses
    4. Make accurate observations and comparisons of plants and animals
    5. Sort objects by color, size, shape and texture
    6. Identify instruments used by scientists
    7. Identify the external parts of a variety of plants and animals
    8. Identify living and non-living things
     

    In Personal Skills, students will:

    1. Demonstrate effective organizational skills
    2. Follow directions
    3. Use time effectively
    4. Sustain attention throughout tasks
    5. Listen attentively
    6. Respect others and property
    7. Follow school rules
    8. Contribute positively to the group
    9.  Color neatly 
    10.  Cut properly 
    11. Know phone number 
    12. Know Address
    13. Know birthday 
    14. Be able to log into and use basic Google Classroom
