Our annual Mass of Remembrance will be celebrated on Saturday, November 8, at 9:00am. While the families of those whose funerals have been celebrated here at St. Simon since last November will receive a special invitation to attend this Mass, all parishioners are also invited to attend as we gather as a community to remember all our deceased fellow parishioners and loved ones. A reception will be held in the lower Church hall immediately following the Mass.
Additionally, over the course of the centuries, another wonderful custom has developed in the Church in which we not only remember our deceased loved ones on those particular days, but also throughout the entire month of November. As a way of bringing this custom to St. Simon, the Liturgy Committee will be erecting a shrine in Church which will stand during the entire month of November. The shrine will include one of our large wooden crosses and some tables.
We invite all parishioners to bring photographs of your deceased loved ones to be displayed throughout the month of November in this shrine. We will accept pictures of all sizes, but would prefer pictures 5x7" or smaller (framed or unframed), and we would ask that you print your name on the back of the photograph (so we know to whom to return the pictures). Members of the Liturgy Committee will be available in the foyer before all the Masses on the weekend of October 26-27 to receive the pictures of your deceased loved ones you would like to include in this shrine. Should you have any questions about this shrine, please contact Rick Eschelbach at 314-541-5304.
