St. Simon has a wonderful tradition of athletics. Hundreds of kids participate yearly in sports such as Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Track and Parochial sports. We couldn’t do it without the men and women who give their time and talent becoming members of our Athletic Board. The St. Simon Athletic Board is made up of volunteers that coordinate the teams and facilities for our kids to participate in the CYC sports program. These are the people who work behind the scenes to make sure that teams are formed, fees are collected and paid, our gym is cleaned, the fields are lined and our kids have the proper equipment and uniforms. In order to maintain and improve our program we are looking to fill several positions on our board. The positions are open to men or women of the Parish. We get together once a month for a meeting and review the status of our program.
There is currently an opening on the Athletic Board for the following positions.
Track Lay Director
SECTION 3
What’s in it for me?
“It’s all about the kids”, so they project CYC values in their actions, bringing the kids in our athletic program a fun environment, a positive environment, and a safe environment. Athletic Board Members have a chance to manage and bring vision and direction to their specific programs and the St. Simon Athletic Program.
Members are exempt from working the concession stand, offered free opportunities to attend CYC banquets, and if serving as a Lay Director and Head Coach of that sport, are offered preferential practice time choices for that sport.
How much time is involved?
A few hours a week is typically all that is needed during your specific season. Often times, you won’t have any responsibilities in a given week because of the cyclical nature of your program. See the Administrative and Playing seasons above. Time can be reduced by joining with a friend and working the positions as Co-Directors or as Lead and Assistant Director.
What if I can’t commit to the position at this time, but I still want to help?
There are many opportunities to help here or there. You could help out for few hours at events such as uniform distribution nights, gym cleanup day, soccer field marking day, various days of the Basketball Tournament, Friday Night Lights, Concession Stand Opener/Closer, Gym Opener/Closer, etc. Just let us know!
